From April 1 to 3, 2026, the Gallerie d’Italia – Turin hosted GENERATIVE | 50 Women · 50 Stories · 1 Collective Work, an exhibition created as part of the S.O.M.A. Art and Neuroscience project.
The project is promoted by Fondazione Medicina a Misura di Donna ETS and the NOMA World Association and is dedicated to women with a history of cancer. S.O.M.A. was established as an interdisciplinary action-research path that connects art, oncology, psychology, and neuroscience, under the scientific coordination of Prof. Chiara Benedetto and Prof. Luca Ostacoli.
The heart of the project was the involvement of 50 women in aleatory water painting workshops, led by artist Stefano Giorgi. During the experience, psychologists and neuroscientists from the University of Turin monitored the participants’ neurobiological activity to study the impact of the artistic experience on well-being.
The GENERATIVE exhibition showcased this journey through a multimedia collective work, composed of individual images and stories. It was open to the public free of charge in the immersive room of the Gallerie d’Italia, offering the city the opportunity to encounter a project born from the experience of illness and developed through the language of art and scientific research.
